2020 MUSIC SPECTACULAR
CHAMBER WIND ENSEMBLE
The Chamber Wind Ensemble is directed by Kristen Bergersen and includes Flutes, Clarinets, Bass Clarinet and French Horns. It features students in years 5 and 6 and focuses on extending students' technical and ensemble skills. One of the main focuses for CWE over the past two years has been to encourage students to develop a greater sense of leadership and confidence while participating in smaller ensembles.

Chamber Wind has worked hard throughout the year even on zoom rehearsals in term 2 and 3. While we were online, students practiced with play along tracks and wore groovy accessories to keep our rehearsals fun! We have learnt music from a variety of genres this year including chamber music, folk music and film music.
Term 3 and 4 featured some tricky repertoire and I am extremely proud of their achievement. The students have improved their rhythmic accuracy as well as their use of articulation and dynamics.
The three pieces that we have recorded for the online concert have been composed to support a story. In term 4, CWE discussed the mood of the music and how we could create a specific sound to help tell a story. While you are listening, why don’t you try to imagine a story that matches the music?
We hope you enjoy them!
