Big Band is an exciting extension ensemble of the Lindfield Public School Band Program for senior students. This group plays a mixture of jazz, pop, funk, blues and other contemporary genres that exposes the students to new and different styles of music. These musicians also have the opportunity to begin to learn how to improvise on their instruments! 

This year was a wild ride for Big Band, with a combination of face to face and online sessions that tested all involved. Bad Romance by Lady Gaga took out ‘favourite piece of 2020’, though I think ’The Funky Monkey’ came a close second. Although the kids are all experts on Zoom now, they’re glad to be back in the hall (Mr Hamilton misses his mute button)! Expect to hear lots of great things from Big Band in 2021!
