While 2020 has undoubtedly been a challenging year, there is much to celebrate. Our three concert bands and two extension ensembles continued to meet face-to-face or online, engaging more than 150 students every week. Our band members (and their families) demonstrated immense commitment, resilience, creativity, and passion for musical excellence.

The success of the program in 2020 is a testament to the dedication and contribution by the entire community of students, LPS staff, conductors, tutors and parent volunteers. 

 

We appreciate the hard work, passion and energy of our professional conducting team - Megan Lipworth, Anthony Marsden, Lachlan Hamilton and Kristen Bergersen - who, together with our wonderful tutors, have kept students connected, engaged and striving for musical achievement.

 

Students have shown their dedication to their instruments and to each other too. While performances, camps and festivals were not possible, and sanitising and physical-distancing became the ‘new normal’, students continued to work diligently and devoted time each week to simply play music together.  They are tremendously proud and excited to showcase their end-of-year performances. Each piece of music represents many months of hard work in unprecedented circumstances. We congratulate our young musicians and the conducting team for such wonderful, spine-tingling performances which reflect their love of music.

 

Our team of parent volunteers are equally hard-working and dedicated, devoting their time and gifts in many unseen ways, mostly behind the scenes. We wish to acknowledge the significant contribution of those parents who gave so much of themselves, especially in a year with many new, challenging obstacles to overcome:
